Charging by kWh: A Game-Changer for EV Owners

We're excited to announce we've recently received approval from Measurement Canada that will transform the way EV owners are billed for charging at our stations!

This approval allows us to make the switch to kilowatt-hour (kWh) billing for all Watti Pro EV chargers installed in Canada prior to the end of 2023! This milestone is a big deal because it means a fairer and more equitable billing system for all EV owners and will help boost the overall development of the electric vehicle ecosystem.

Instead of the old-school method of charging you based on the time you spend at the charger, we're introducing a new kWh-based billing approach at Electric Avenue. It's a smarter way to go! This way, you'll only pay for the exact amount of power you use to charge your electric vehicle. We get it—different EVs have different charging needs based on their battery size and capabilities. So, this new system acknowledges that and ensures you're charged accordingly. "This significant milestone allows us to better serve the growing EV community and embrace a more equitable billing system. By charging EV drivers for the actual power they use, we're eliminating time-based billing discrepancies. It's a win-win for EV operators & owners!" said Kelsey Bond, General Manager.

Benefits of kWh Billing

Let's talk about the perks of kWh billing, shall we? With this new system, you'll know exactly what you're paying for. No more worrying about being charged for idle time at the charger. You'll only pay for the power you actually consume. It's a win for your wallet and for the environment!

Plus, we're taking into account the different charging rates of various electric vehicles. It's only fair, right? We want to cater to the diverse needs of EV owners. This billing system ensures that each EV is billed accurately, promoting customer satisfaction and trust.

 Looking Towards the Future

As the popularity of electric vehicles keeps skyrocketing, we're fully committed to driving the evolution of charging infrastructure. Our switch to kWh billing aligns perfectly with our mission to create a sustainable and inclusive EV charging ecosystem. And guess what? This Temporary Dispensation Program is valid until 2030 for devices installed by the end of 2023. That means we're ready to support the growing EV community for years to come!

At Electric Avenue, we take immense pride in providing smart EV charging solutions that prioritize customer experience, convenience, and the planet's well-being. With this approval from Measurement Canada, our position as a trusted charging infrastructure provider is stronger than ever. By adapting to the evolving needs of electric vehicle drivers like you, we're playing a crucial role in making clean transportation a reality. So, get ready to hit the road with confidence and power up at Electric Avenue!
